Our Love Bug is ONE

We had a wonderful time celebrating Naomi's first birthday. The party was full of cute little bugs everywhere. We had a total of 10 of them plus one in the womb. We are so blessed to have family and friends that show us their love and affection in so many ways. Special thanks to my Mom, Step-dad, Sister and Carlis...for helping me to put a cute and fun party together! Thanks to Christy who decorated the very pretty rose cake. Many warm thanks to those who came and made the event very special for my ladybug. Lastly, yet most importantly, thank you Lord for bringing everything together last-minute. Indeed you are so very gracious even in the little details of life. Happy 1st birthday Naomi!! Daddy, Mommy and Jacob love you so very much!!

It has been a loong time (November 2011 Update)

It is crazy to think that my first baby is turning 3 this week and my second baby will be turning 1 at the end of this month.
JACOB
has matured a lot these past few months. His speech continues to grown from day to day. He recognizes almost all of the letters of the alphabet. The boy is now memorizing Scripture in the AWANA program at our church. It is a blessing and a challenge at times to be a Mommy. Yet my highest desire is to bring him up in the discipline and instruction of the Lord (Eph 6:4). Jacob and I enjoy praying together and singing praises (hymns) to the Lord. He likes playing with leggos and trains. Dirt is becoming super fun. He is learning to be his sister's body guard. He tells me when she is putting harmful objects in her mouth or when she is touching something that could hurt her. I encourage him often to protect her. He is growing to be a great big brother and a loving son.
NAOMI is a cute bug. She gets a big smile when she sees Daddy and says "Papa". She loves to eat chunky food. No more baby mush for her and she has lets me know that it is time to move on. Drinking her milk causes her to have a joyful heart. She will demonstrate it by showing her big seven front teeth. She is taking one to two steps at a time. She likes to play with the exact same thing her brother is playing with. Even if it is a piece of paper, but if brother is playing with it she must do the same. Sharing is becoming a very familiar word in her vocabulary. I mostly speak to her in spanish and so far she knows: Agua (water), alla (over there) and Papa (Daddy). She understands a lot of commands in Spanish too. Jacob is picking up quite a few words from hearing me speak it to her. It is one of my big goals to have them both bilingual by when they are older. Yet my biggest desire in life as a mother is to teach my children to love and obey God. I can't force them to, but I sure can influence them to glory Him and enjoy Him forever!

Here is a verse that my Kids will hear often:

"Children obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. Honor your Father and your Mother (which is the first commandment with a promise), So that it may be well with you, and that you may live long on earth" Ephesians 6: 1-3

...and not because Daddy and Mommy say so...but because God, Creator of the heavens and the earth said so.

6 Months old

16 pounds
26 inches long
No teeth yet
Eating: Sweet Potato, Rice/Oat Cereal

Naomi is a very independent baby. Loves her Mommy a lot. Smiles at her brother and likes to stare at Daddy. I call her Dora the Explorer...because she loves to explore her surroundings and likes to dive at things to get them as you can see her in this picture. I call her my ladybug because she is as cute as one.

It has been awhile..

Now that my two little ones are sleeping I want to update a little. Life got pretty busy the moment we welcomed Naomi to this world. I thought I had my hands full with one child...now with two life is definitely stretch to full capacity. Or at least until I get the hang of it. Naomi was born 11/28/2010. Labor was hard yet easier than the first time. I got to the hospital at 9 centimeters. I was surprise and happy when I heard the nurse said "we better take you to the delivery room" It was around 6am. The Doc broke my water to make it faster and it sure did. My pain intensified and contractions were coming pretty close together. The last centimeter was the hardest part of my labor. Pushing was tiring but doable. I didn't like my nurse too much. But I was glad to have my hubby there. He instructed me better than the slow and careless nurse. You could tell he had good experience :). She was born at 7:58am. The Doc called my labor and pushing "fast and furious"...I wanted that baby out ASAP! He loved my labor. He was in and out. He barely made it to catch my baby..they didn't even have some stuff ready but eventually she made the grand entrance and Mommy and baby were happy that it was all over.
Jacob just woke up...to be continued

Anyway its now been 2 months and we are adjusting to having an infant and an energetic toddler running around. In January our Naomi got sick with a respiratory virus (RSV). She was in the hospital for 3 and a half days. Thanks to many people who prayed for her she recuperated a lot sooner than what we thought. It was a scary time yet we got to experience God's grace and mercy. A big thanks for my sister Vero and friend Carla for watching Jacob while we were with Naomi at the hospital. We are now enjoying being at home with our two little ones. It's a lot of work for Mommy but there is a lot of JOY I get in caring for them.
